We hope you will use the list as a starting point in your search for services. If you find a service to be lacking in a significant way, please let the church staff know so the listing may be removed from the list going forward.
Charities, Volunteer/Service Opportunities for Youth and Adults
Feed My Starving Children (847) 984-3846
FMSC strives to eliminate starvation among children throughout the world. Volunteers hand-pack rice, soy, dried vegetables, and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags, which they are sealed, boxed, placed on pallets, and shipped to their partners working around the world to reach the neediest children.

Love INC of Lake County mobilizes local churches to transform lives and communities “In the Name of Christ.” An affiliate of Love INC National, the local network of volunteers from Lake County churches help disadvantaged individuals rebuild their lives and create new relationships, all In the Name of Christ. Ministries include the Clearinghouse Help Center, Clothing and Furniture Ministries, Household Starter Kits, Baby Shower Ministry, New Hope Ministry, and Loved Twice Thrift Boutique.

Northern Illinois Food Bank, a member of Feeding America, is the source of nutritious food, innovative feeding programs, and hope for more than half a million people each year. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a goal of solving hunger in the 13-county service area, the organization relies on generous donors, volunteers, and community partners: the local food pantries and feeding programs, food manufacturers and retailers, companies, foundations, and individuals who join in their vision for no one to be hungry in Northern Illinois.

Bernie’s Book Bank sources, processes, and distributes quality new and gently used children’s books to significantly increase book ownership among underserved infants, toddlers, and school-age children throughout Chicagoland. StartYourRecovery.org, a resource for individuals who may be struggling with substance use disorder. Start Your Recovery was developed by bringing together experts in substance misuse treatment from leading nonprofit, academic, and government institutions. Through this resource, members of your congregation can hear stories from people with similar experiences, discover the answers they need for recognizing and dealing with substance misuse, and locate support. Offers professional counseling services that provide hope, healing, and growth in a manner that is ethical and caring.

Provides caring, confidential, personalized counseling in a private office environment. The experienced staff of licensed psychotherapists works with children, teens, adults of all ages, couples, and families. Counseling is available in Spanish and English.

Members of the staff have variously been trained in individual, marital, family, addiction, and group therapy. They regularly help people who struggle with depression, addictions, anxiety, shame, fear, anger, and low self-esteem. They also help people heal from various trauma and losses in life, due to abuse, neglect, conflict, or betrayal, and difficulties related to growing up in dysfunctional families, including those in which addictions such as alcohol and pornography were present. Core values include personal faith and honesty. They accept BCBS.

A Christian counseling ministry devoted to serving local churches in the northern and western regions of Chicagoland, White Stone Resources offers individual, marital, and family Christian counseling. In addition, it provides topically focused teaching, seminars, and organizational/staff consulting to churches.
This group identifies as experienced Christian therapists serving in the greater Libertyville area. They accept several kinds of insurance and serve a variety of mental health issues.

They work to make the law understandable and accessible, giving people tools to help themselves get the justice they seek. ILAO can help people navigate the legal system with confidence and not feel alone.
The Christian Legal Society (CLS) is a fellowship of Christians dedicated to serving Jesus Christ through the practice and study of law, the defense of religious freedom and life, and the provision of legal aid to the needy. The website directs people to local counselors who are ready to serve their needs.

The Caregiver Support Group is a safe, supportive, and confidential place to share concerns, ask questions, and seek guidance both for loved ones and for oneself. Open to all who are caring for someone with Alzheimer’s/dementia as well as any chronic illness requiring extensive care, such as COPD, stroke, cancer, opioid/alcohol-related illnesses, accident, trauma, and more.
