“But since you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you- see that you also excel in the grace of giving.”

The story of generosity in the Bible begins with the grumbling of Israel in the wilderness. These people who had just experienced the grace of God in their deliverance from slavery in Egypt, who had just seen God part the Red Sea, who had been redeemed by the powerful hand of God, now begin to grumble because they are hungry and wonder why God does not feed them as their slavemasters in Egypt had. The experience they had with the grace of God did not connect with faith in God’s provision. Read more
